75 years of Henle Urtext: with this anniversary volume, G. Henle Verlag celebrates the enduring success of its Urtext editions. This album features a representative selection of 17 famous, often-played piano pieces from Henle’s program. They are graded from easy to moderately difficult, and are excellently suited for both study and performance purposes. At the same time, they represent the entire spectrum of classical piano music. They are arranged chronologically in order to lead us on a journey through the history of piano music, from Bach to Gershwin. Of course, Arnold Schönberg should not be missing: the second of the Six Little Piano Pieces, op. 19, can serve as an introduction to his expressionistic language. Rhythmically demanding, it is nevertheless playable even for less experienced pianists!
